I always have people tell me that my daughter is my mini-me or my twin. Some of my family didn’t meet her until she was ten. Not because we didn’t want her to meet any of them, it was just how it was. My family was busy raising their own families. So one day we had a family get together at my parents house. I believe most of them were a little shocked that Makayla looked so much like me when I was that age. Most of the time I get “She looks exactly like you!”

Even random people will have a confused look on their faces at first. One time Makayla wanted to go take pictures at the old time photo place at Kings Dominion. The girl there was pretty young and wanted to know our relationship. I told her Mother/Daughter. She looked at me like she didn’t believe me. Who knows maybe she thought we were sisters instead? Another lady at Walmart when I went to pick up photos looked up and looked at me then Makayla. She said, “Well her daddy didn’t have anything to do with that.” I told her, “I know she looks exactly like me.”

Some of my friends from school even tell me they have to do a second take when I post pictures because she looks so much like I do. This makes me laugh but at the same time feel great because she is my mini-me and twin.

So why do I say clone? It is scary sometimes how much Makayla is like me. It is almost like I went back in time, cloned myself and brought her back with me. Yes we look alike but holy smokes this girl acts and thinks like me! We say the same things at the exact same time. We think the same thing and even question each other what are you thinking? We say you go first and one of us will say exactly what the other was thinking. Then we just laugh.

When she is helping to watch the boys when Chris and I either go out on a date or we take a trip without kids she will tell the boys to do something. Of course they will argue with her and she tells them, “You know mom will say the exact same thing.” So sometimes they listen and sometimes they don’t. That is just how siblings work. So I will call them, talk to them and tell them what she already told them. She uses the exact words! I hear her tell them “I just told you mom would say the exact same thing!”
