I’ve been trying to use cleaner products on my body for a few years now. It all started with having a baby… motherhood truly changes you in the best ways It made me very mindful of what I was putting on my baby’s skin.

I’ve held on to a few things that I’ve loved over the years but today decided to purge through them brutally – no mercy – and throw away anything with harmful dyes, fragrances, and chemicals. I think you’ll be shocked to see what I found! This is why reading ingredients is so important.

I just told Andrew that I was tossing an old body wash of his because it has artificial flavors. He responded, “why would it have artificial flavors? You don’t eat it!” I meant artificial fragrances* haha! So here are some things I looked at… Argan oil by a popular brand used to be one of my favorite hair products. Reading it today though, I’m noticing dyes like red 17, yellow 11 and green 6. Why do they need to be in there?! A long time loved bodywash also ended up in the trash for containing lots of dye. Lotions with dyes and artificial fragrances – all went in the trash. Toothpaste samples from the dentist containing fluoride- trash. Deodorants that aren’t naturally made and contain nasty ingredients like aluminum and other metals- TRASH. Bye

I have a lot of natural products that I love! I’ve used pure aloe vera gel for a long time now as a moisturizer for my face, hands, and anywhere I need it and it works so well. It’s one of the only moisturizes I’ll use on Lincoln’s skin, because he doesn’t need fragrance. But look at the photo comparison of two aloe gels. Pure, organic aloe has aloe vera as the main ingredient (with 1 or 2 other natural, plant ingredients for thickening). But what is the ONLY ingredient in the “aloe cooling gel”? LIDOCAINE. It doesn’t even contain aloe!!! Be sure to read ingredients! Aloe is a super plant in my opinion, it has so many beneficial uses! Some brands I love and use with natural products are Monat, Beauty Counter, Primally Pure, and of course I love essential oils and use both doTERRA and YL You can find natural options made with plants in just about every area of personal hygiene. Plants are health magic and we don’t need alcohols, dyes, and other chemicals on or in our bodies! Be sure to read ingredients!

I completely understand that switching to more natural products isn’t easy. It’s a process that takes time and commitment and I definitely don’t have an entirely natural and organic life. I am aware that mountain dew is banned in other countries for having toxic ingredients and it’s still my favorite poison I’m not perfect, just trying to be healthier in ways I can control and I hope sharing some of my favorite products can help you if you’re looking for some cleaner options!
