Top 5 Gift Ideas: Books
Can you believe it is already December? Christmas is right around the corner! If you are looking for some ideas I am here to help you out. Books are always a great gift to give to people. These books are my top 5 favorite ones I have reviewed.
For the person who loves Chicken Soup Books this is a book that is similar called The Chocolate Diaries. That just makes me want to get out the chocolate and sit down and read this book. The stories in this book are wonderful to read. “The Chocolate Diaries”is written by Karen Linamen. You can find it on Amazon for $11.89. You can read my review on this book here.
For the couple that has been married years or for the newly weds I recommend Happily Ever Laughter by Ken Davis. I love this book because there are so many stories that I can relate to in this book. I laughed so hard I cried on some of these stories. Some stories I thought “Yep that is so my husband and me.” You can find this one also for $11.89 on Amazon. You can read my full review here.
For the woman who likes to read romance stories I want to recommend Lonestar Homecoming by Colleen Coble. I am not much on romance stories. I prefer action. This story has both romance and action. This book is about a woman named Gracie who is about to marry her fiancé when the FBI shows up at her door.Needless to say she has to run with her daughter from her fiancé Cid. All she has on her is $5 and she is wearing a wedding dress. You can find this book for $6.40 on Amazon. You can read my full review here.
For the younger kids on your life. I recommend “Hayseed’s First Race” written and illustrated by Sally Schrock. This has been one of my favorite books I have read to my children. This books lets us know that it is ok to be different. Every child needs to know that everyone is different and that is ok. It is very well written and illustrated. You can find it on Amazon for $8.47. My review can be read here.
Saving the best for last. Yes it is a children’s book but I love it and my kids loved it. So my recommendation is for this one to be read as a family. It is a Halloween type story but it can be read anytime. Gertrude’s Broken Wand is the first book in the series and it was written by Jason Thibeault. It a a book that you just can’t put down. A little break down of the book…
On an otherwise normal 4th grade school field trip, Rebecca gets separated from her classmates while trying to find the bathroom. But when she slips in the dark and falls down a hole, she ends up in the land of here, an enchanted kingdom that is suffering from a powerful curse…everyday is Halloween.
But it’s not costumed trick-or-treaters that roam the land nor is it candy they want. Ghosts, ghouls, werewolves, skeletons and a host of other baddies, eager for a taste of warm flesh, have turned the once beautiful land into a spooky landscape.
Unfortunately, Rebecca’s problems have only just begun for when she landed in here she also landed on Gertrude, the kingdom’s witch, breaking her wand and the one chance to lift the curse. Now Rebecca must get Gertrude’s wand fixed, avoid getting eaten (or worse), and find a way home all before the sun sets. Because here needs a real name or it, and everything inside, will cease to exist forever.
