Weighted Hula hoop

Have any of you tried a weighted hula hoop?  I just bought one and I have been using it for about 3 days now.  I wanted to try something different for exercising.  When I was younger I won simple contests seeing who could hula hoop the longest.  I remember how fun it used to be so I thought why not give a weighted hoop a try.

The size of this thing is crazy!  When you are a kid the hoops are small.  This thing is huge!  You can see in the picture above how big it is.  This is my 4 year old with the hoop.  I have to make sure things are cleared out of the way or the hoop will hit it.  You have to have a lot of room to do this hoop.

The hoop comes in separate pieces and is easy to put together.  There were a lot of people who reviewed the hoop that said it came apart when they used it.  It snaps together so they apparently they did not check to make sure it was together.  You have to give it a little twist and then pull it to make sure it is together.  This hoop weighs 3lbs and is padded.  I got the one without ridges because I also read reviews that said the ones with ridges gave people bruises.

I really like this hoop.  It is a lot of fun and I have not gotten any bruises from using it.  The first day I used it for probably 4 mins.  I probably should have started with 2 mins. like some reviewers recommended.  I was so sore the next day!  Of course I have not worked a hula hoop in years so I know that had a lot to do with it.  Yesterday I did it for about 10 mins.   I am not so sore today so I think my body is slowly getting used to it.

My mom also ordered this same hoop the day I got mine because she tried it out and loved it too.  I will have to let you know how she is doing with hers because she just got hers yesterday.  My daughter wants to use the hoop too but I told her I rather her not use a weighted one.  I am going to buy her a regular hula hoop.

I will let you know how things go as the days go along.  So far I love this hula hoop.  If you want to buy one you can get it on Amazon for $30.75.

*Note this was not a paid review.  The product above was not given to me.  I wanted to review the product above because I really liked it.
